Silver Spring Recap!

Silver Spring Recap!

Hey everyone!

Hope everyone got a chance to enjoy their favorite team play this week as the NFL enters week six, MLB Playoff games are ongoing, basketball preseason has begun, NHL enters its first week, and lets not forget about the NBA preseason.

Anyways, I wanted to take a chance to do a little update for the recent card show in Silver Spring MD.

As some of you may have attended, it was the first show ever put on by Mid Atlantic Sports Collectables & Memorabilia in the Civic Center of Silver Spring MD. Ryan at Mid Atlantic expressed to me about his passion to bring a "larger" card show into town for the residents of Maryland & DC. He also mentioned that it had been almost 10 years since a card show was organized within the DC 495 Beltway.

Let me hopefully paint a mental picture for you... The Civic Center in Silver Spring offers a central down town vibe accessible by the DC metro. Ryan had the event floor set up with approximately 65 tables, a free trading area for guests, and even provided coffee/donuts for the dealers during load in. I also believe it is worth mentioning that the layout for the room was spacious and allowed for the customers & dealers to move about very easily.

Doors opened up at 8:30am. We had a small initial wave of about 15-20 people. Then followed by another 15-20 people... and another. I think you get where this is going.....The show hit its peak between 10:30am and 12pm & I was able to buy/sell/trade without taking a break. Around 1pm to close we had some strong competition with a loaded Sunday NFL schedule & had just a few stragglers wondering around making sure that every single case & box was not left un-checked for a deal. The show was a total success!

I know, I know..... "but how good did you really do?". I'll do my best here without getting too specific. Our booth had recorded about twice the amount of sales than a typical "local show" or "mall show" & we picked up a large chunk of new inventory buying walk ups as well. All in all.... it was a great Sunday!

Thank you everyone for reading!
